EcoProsper Consulting: Your Partner in Sustainable ECONOMIC Solutions
Founder Tom Foster
Welcome to EcoProsper Consulting, where we help organisations and communities navigate the complex challenges of today’s world. Founded by Tom Foster, EcoProsper Consulting is dedicated to guiding individuals and organisations toward innovative solutions that address the interconnected crises—environmental, social, and economic—facing us all.
We recognise the urgency to act on climate change, protect our planet’s boundaries, and create sustainable futures. Our mission is to empower you with the tools, strategies, and fresh perspectives needed to drive meaningful change in the 21st century.
Our Founder’s JourneyTom Foster’s passion for sustainability started with his early work in renewable energy during his Electrical Engineering studies at UNSW, where he specialised in Systems & Control at the ARC Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence. That initial spark grew into a lifelong dedication to finding sustainable solutions.
With over three decades of diverse experience across industries, including heavy industry, manufacturing, and water management, Tom’s journey includes contributions to major companies like Honeywell, BHP, and Sydney Water. He has also co-founded a business. Along the way, Tom’s work in sectors, including fossil fuels, has only strengthened his commitment to driving sustainable change.
Expertise in Economic Development, Funding, and SustainabilityMore recently, Tom’s focus has been on just-transition efforts in East Arnhem Land, helping to build a diverse, sustainable economy that honours the region’s Indigenous culture and provides equitable opportunities, especially for those most disadvantaged.
Tom’s experience also includes navigating the intricate world of government and non-profit grants, both as a provider and seeker of funding. At the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), he supported First Nations people in exercising their economic and social rights, and at AusIndustry, he worked on business projects through the Entrepreneurs' Programme that promoted carbon reduction and the circular economy.
A Commitment to Innovative Economic ApproachesDriven by a desire to explore new economic models, Tom is currently pursuing a Master of Economics of Sustainability, where he maintains a Distinction average. His studies delve into fields like Ecological Economics and Modern Monetary Theory, and he has published articles and presented at conferences, continually evolving his understanding of how modern economies can function sustainably.
Through workshops like Climate Fresk, Doughnut Design for Business, and En-ROADS, Tom blends his systems thinking and humanist values, helping organisations embrace the economic shifts required to secure a sustainable, dignified future within planetary boundaries.
